MoneyMitra privacy policy

Effective: 8 November 2026 · Package: com.personal.upiexpensetracker

MoneyMitra is an Android app for tracking expenses and income, budgets, insights and money planning calculators. It is published by Rupak Banerjee ("we"). This policy explains what the app does with your information.

In short

Information stored on your phone

The app stores the entries, budgets, accounts, categories, tags, reminders, merchant rules, planner scenarios and settings you create. It can also store an optional profile name, email address and photo. The email is not used to sign in and is never sent to us. All of this stays in the app's private storage on your device.

Automatic payment capture

If you grant notification access, MoneyMitra reads notifications from supported payment and banking apps on your phone to detect payments and avoid duplicates. This happens entirely on your phone. Notification content is not sent to us or to advertisers. You can turn notification access off at any time in Android settings, and the app keeps working with manual entry.

Receipts and photos

If you scan a receipt or choose a profile photo, the image is processed on your phone (receipt text is read with Google's on-device ML Kit text recognition). Images are not uploaded by the app.

Backups and exports

Backups are encrypted with a password you choose; we cannot recover a forgotten password. If you save or share a backup, CSV or PDF to Google Drive, OneDrive, email or another app, that service handles the file under its own privacy terms. CSV and PDF exports are not encrypted, so share them only with people you trust.

Internet use

Tracking works offline. The app uses the internet only to:

Advertising

The free version shows clearly labelled banners at the bottom of the Home, Insights and Money planner screens; there are no pop-up or full-screen ads. The app asks for non-personalised ads and never includes your transactions, merchants, notifications, accounts, profile email or photo in ad requests. To serve and measure ads, Google may still collect device identifiers (such as the advertising ID), IP address, approximate location derived from it, diagnostics and ad interactions. Google handles this information under the Google Privacy Policy; see also how Google uses information from apps that use its services.

Where the law requires it (for example in the European Economic Area and the UK), Google's consent message asks for your choices before ads load. You can change them in the app under Settings → Privacy & alerts → Ad privacy choices.

Purchases

"Remove ads" is a one-time purchase through Google Play. Google processes the payment; we receive only confirmation that the purchase was made, not your card or payment details. Once purchased, the app stops requesting ads on any phone signed in to the same Google Play account.

Your choices and deleting data

You can edit or delete any record and your profile in the app, export your data, and turn notification access off. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage deletes all records on the phone; keep an encrypted backup first if you want to restore them later. Files you exported remain where you saved them until you delete them. To reset your advertising ID or opt out of ads personalisation, use your phone's Google settings.

Security

Records are kept in the app's private storage, backups are encrypted, and you can require your phone's fingerprint or screen lock to open the app. If developer options or USB debugging are turned on, the app reminds you to turn them off when you are not using them. No method of storage is perfectly secure, so please keep your phone and backup password safe.

Children

MoneyMitra is meant for adults managing their own money and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes and contact

If we change how the app handles data, we'll update this page and the date above. Questions or requests: [email protected].
